Focusless

Project type

Painting

Date

August 2024

Location

Vancouver

“Focusless” aims to explore overstimulation. Irregular shapes symbolize these random stimuli, which overlap each other, competing to occupy more of the viewer's attention. No two shapes are identical, highlighting how these sensory overloads consume the viewers in distinctive ways. The composition features vibrant and saturated colours, representing mass media, advertisements, society, or even people around us, boldly competing for our attention. This artwork provides no focal points, causing the viewers to feel restless as each place seeks to eclipse its neighbours. My artwork mimics the anxiety and haste in our daily lives, forcing modern people to contemplate their own unique identities and values in a world with an overload of information.
